From Nagcarlan, the hobbit took a jeepney to the east. The roads were clean and lined with trees and elegant houses, far from the metro’s sidewalks lined with vendors and railings. At the market, the people were happy, busy with many things, either selling their stuff or checking the stuff their neighbors sell. It was a good walk around the area.

At the heart of the town, in a plaza with towering statues of saints and martyrs, a red church stands proudly. Elegant. Baroque. Beautiful. It’s St John the Baptist Church built in 1605.

The hobbit was captivated by the artistry. He took a flight of stairs and found himself in the alley to the altar. Then the camera got busy again.
