Many people think Fairways and Bluewater is an exclusive resort only for its members and stockholders. I understand. A high-end resort that spans 150 hectares, with six swimming pools, more than 700 rooms in posh villas, plus its own golf course—it’s easy to think that only the privileged set foot in this sprawling property.

But, that is a misconception. Fairways and Bluewater, the largest resort in Boracay, is for everyone who wants to experience a quieter side of the island, away from the hustle and bustle of the White Beach. It’s a luxurious experience, yes, but one that doesn’t cost you an arm and a leg.

We visited in June 2017 and had a great time. After a short overnight stay, we realized what makes Fairways one of the most booked properties in Boracay.

1) Stylish swimming pools

There are six pools to choose from. There’s an infinity pool overlooking a private beach and pools adjacent to the villas providing a scenic view to the guests. Our favorite was the vibrant Ventana Pool Bar, a perfect place to swim, party, and chill. Grab some cocktail and pizza, relax to the music, and enjoy an intimate moment at the pool.

2) Endless fun and adventure

Those who want adventure will not run out of activities at Fairways. Take the cable car or the 650-meter zipline, the longest in the island, to get a view of the lush environment of Boracay Newcoast. You can also hop on a Segway and drive on a track that leads to the beach. NavigaTour offers Segway rides for 15 mins, 30 mins, and 1 hour. Fairways also offers water sports facilities that include parasailing, kayaking, and banana boat ride. And, if you’re nuts about golf, you’re definitely in the right place because this is the only resort with an 18-hole championship golf course in Boracay.

3) Scenic landscapes

The whole resort is an eco-friendly destination that blends luxury and modern living with nature. Enjoy a secluded white sand beach all to yourself without the buzzing crowd of Boracay’s Station 2. Breathe fresh air, enjoy the sunshine, go on a morning jog or an afternoon stroll.

4)  Modern and comfy rooms

As much as you’ll love the outdoors, you will have a good time in the stylish and spacious lodgings of Fairways. The resort has 16 room types including a pool view rooms, connecting rooms, executive suites, and family suites. We stayed at the Premier Grand room, which has air conditioning, private toilet and bath, mini bar, cable TV, wifi access, and a view of the golf course.

After a late afternoon dip at Ventana, we also dropped by the Bluewater Spa, which has a complete menu of massage and spa services. Their signature massage is called “Hilot Kaayo” which starts with an herbal foot bath, hot steam banana wrap, and hilot.

5) Ease of going around

Although Fairways is in Newcoast Boracay and is not within walking distance to White Beach, getting in and out of the resort is very convenient. Shuttle services to D Mall are available until 10 PM and operate 24/7 within the resort. Land transfers and sea transfers are also made easy through the in-house travel helpdesk.

6) First class restaurants

A high-end resort is not complete without top of the line restaurants. Fairways has five dining options within the resort, including a pool bar and al fresco restaurants. During our stay, we had a sumptuous lunch of Mediterranian-Asian cuisine at La Terraza, just beside the Ventana Pool Bar. I loved the chicken binakol, sweet basil salmon, and chicken salad. For dinner, we were treated to a tasty pad thai, creamy tempura, and chicken ala kiev at the Laguna Café.

7) Excellent customer service

We didn’t have any trouble during the short stay at Fairways. Even before checking in, the resort staff already followed up on our itinerary. When we arrived, everything was easy breezy and everyone was accommodating. They made sure our needs were cared for every step of the way–from the refreshments and cold towel, caring for our luggage, arranging our tours and transportation.

8) Affordable luxury experience

Luxury almost often comes with a high price. Not at Fairways. Rooms start at P4000+ and are competitively priced versus other accommodations in the island. Without spending too much for a tropical vacation, anyone can have a glimpse of the beauty of this world-class accommodation in Boracay.

How To Get There

Boracay is accessible through Kalibo or Caticlan airports and flying from key cities like Manila and Cebu takes only about an hour. Fairways can arrange your transfers to cut your travel time and make your transportation convenient. If you plan to take public transportation, however, this is how to get there:

  • From Caticlan Airport, you can take a 5-minute tricycle ride to Caticlan Port. If you’re coming from Kalibo Airport, you can take a van to the port (at most 2 hrs, P200).
  • At the port, you can take a pump boat (P25) or a ferry (P50). You also have to pay a terminal fee (P100) and an environmental fee (P75). Travel time from Caticlan Port to Boracay’s Cagban Port is approximately 10 minutes. However, if you arranged transfers with Fairways, their speedboat will just take 5 minutes from Caticlan to Cagban Port.
  • From the port, take a tricycle to D’ Mall (20 minutes, P250). The shuttle service to Fairways pass by Budget Mart at D’ Mall every hour.
